The Dominic System

The Dominic System is the most IMPORTANT thing you will have to learn to get a really good grounding into improving your memory. Once you have learnt this, things really will be so much easier for you. Do NOT continue on until you are fully versed in the Dominic System. Trust me, not knowing it will only make things really hard for you later when you come to use the techniques. You will only have to come back here and learn them again.

So, what is the Dominic System?

"Dominic O'Brien's creation, the Dominic System, is something you will not want to forget!"

Here Dominic with this video below, using the Dominic System:

Take a look at the following sequence:

A=1, B=2, C=3, D=4, E=5, F=6, G=7, H=8, I=9 O=0

*A=1, B=2, C=3, D=4, E=5, S=6, G=7, H=8, N=9 O=0 - My way

Does this approach make sense? It is pretty easy to follow. A = 1, B = 2 etc. there is no ten, only 0. Zero becomes O ( sounds like oh) for handiness sake. It looks the same.

So how does it work then? Ok it really is quite simple. Take a number, any two digit number. Go on, think of one! It has to be two digits, so 6 would be 06. I am thinking of 34. Take the 3. Using your fingers, count out the letters to 3, A, B, C. Do it for 4, D. So you have CD. Now comes the tricky bit. You need to somehow associate those letters, CD, with a person. Don't worry about it. All will become clear.

So to get this to work, you will need 100 people. Starting with 00 and ending with 99 and using the Number Alphabet you will come up with your own people. You can use famous people, friends, colleagues, whoever it takes for you to get your 100 people. Take number 48, this would translate into DH, and that is Damon Hill the famous motor racing champion.

When you have come up with these 100 people, you have to assign an action to them. Looking at Damon Hill, his action, to me, would be driving a racing car. Pretty simple eh? You just have to make sure that the other 99 people don't have the same action. This is very important.

When you come to memorizing many numbers, you will be able to use the action of one person with a different person, so for example, DG (47) to me is David Gower, the cricketer. His action would be hitting a cricket ball with his cricket bat. So if I came across the numbers 4847 all I would have to do is memorize Damon Hill with a cricket bat!
It should take you a few days to complete this. Once you have done this, you will be able to remember decks of cards, any date in any century, the list is endless!!

Below is a link to the 100 people I use. Please do try and use your own people. Use your friends, family and relatives, neighbours etc! Only use my list if you get stuck.

I have Dominic O'Brien to thank for this technique. I believe it is one of the best methods around and doesn't take long to remember!

* Please note the difference in my way and the way i have just mentioned. I take S instead of F as the number 6 represents such a strong S sound. Same with number 9, N. You can of course use this way if you like.
